How to Fix 'Display Entering Sleep Mode' Issue on Your PC

A few days ago, I faced a problem in my colleague’s PC: “Display Entering Sleeping Mode”. There are several reasons behind it. If you face the same issues, then here are the causes and solutions to this problem.

Causes of this Problem

  • Loose Connection - If any connectivity cables like VGA, HDMI, Display Port Cables, etc, are not properly connected.
  • BIOS/CMOS - Incorrect BIOS settings or CMOS battery placement.
  • Power Supply - Power Supply is not responding properly.
  • Cable Damaged - Display cable (VGA, HDMI) may be damaged.

Solutions

1. Check Physical Connection

  • Check if all the cables, like VGA, HDMI, and other cables, are properly connected to the PC.
  • Reconnect all the cables
  • Try a different cable if the current cable is not working.
  • Check the monitor source port is properly connected.

2. Restart the PC

  • Hold the Power button 3-5 seconds to force shutdown
  • Disconnect the power and wait for a few seconds
  • Reconnect the power and turn on the PC

3. Connect with Another Monitor or PC

  •           Connect to another Monitor with your PC
  •       If the screen is showing, then the fault is in your Monitor

4. Update the Display Adapter (If the Screen shows anything)

  • Go to Device Manager
  • Click on Display Adapter and select the Display Driver, and click on Update Driver
  • It will update all errors if any errors remain in drivers and fix them

5. Start PC in Safe Mode (If the Screen shows anything)

  • Press F8 or Shift + F8 during booting
  • If the boot is fine in Safe mode, then it could be a driver issue

6. Check the RAM and Other Components in the System

  • Turn off the computer and unplug the power
  • Open the case and remove the RAM and clean it, then re-seat the RAM
  • Remove all dust from the System box and plug the power and turn on the PC

7. Reset BIOS/CMOS

  • Turn off the computer and unplug the power
  • Open the case and locate the CMOS battery, and remove it
  • Wait for 5-10 minutes and re-seat it
  • Plug the power and turn on the PC. It will reset the system BIOS automatically

8. Check the Power Supply

If             If the Power Supply does not deliver power, then try another good Power Supply.

If the issue persists after all these, you may have a hardware failure (GPU, motherboard, or PSU). Let me know your PC specifications and exact behavior (e.g., fan spinning, beeps, any lights) in the comment section, and I will guide you further.
